Cortical Bone Screws

Cortical bone screws are the workhorse fixation element of trauma surgery: threaded screws that anchor plates to cortical bone and, used as lag screws, compress fracture lines directly. The BoneCraft range covers four diameters and lengths from ten to ninety-five millimetres — genuine original screws from the Zimmer Biomet trauma systems, stocked in depth and supplied through independent distribution.

  • Diameters of three point five, four, four point five and five millimetres
  • Lengths from ten to ninety-five millimetres across the range
  • For plate-to-bone fixation across the trauma plate systems
  • Lag technique for direct interfragmentary compression
  • Over four hundred catalog numbers covering the size matrix

Cortical Bone Screws — The Element Every Construct Depends On

Plates get the attention, but it is the screws that hold them. A plate construct is only as reliable as the purchase its cortical screws find in the shaft, and screw selection — diameter for the plate and the bone, length for the corridor, count for the load — is where fixation planning becomes concrete.

In lag technique the same screw does a second job: drilled through a gliding hole in the near fragment and threaded into the far one, it converts tightening torque into direct compression across the fracture line. Cortical screws serve both roles across the trauma systems this range supports. Diameter, length and technique remain selections of the operating surgeon.

Product Details

Cortical screws are inserted after drilling and measuring, seated to bring the plate to bone or to lag fragments together. The range is stocked by diameter and length in fine increments, so the exact size called for at the table is the size on the shelf.

DiameterLength span in rangeTypical application
3.5 mm10 to 60 mmSmall-fragment plates, forearm, fibula, periarticular work
4.0 mm10 to 60 mmSystem-matched plate fixation
4.5 mm20 to 95 mmLarge-fragment plates, humerus, tibia, femur
5.0 mm20 to 95 mmHeavy plate constructs and dense cortical bone

The matrix of over four hundred catalog numbers is held in BoneCraft warehouse depth and ships in original manufacturer packaging, with lot references recorded on every shipment.
