Medial Column Fusion Plate, Titanium

The medial column fusion plate is a low-profile titanium plate designed for arthrodesis along the medial column of the foot — the load-bearing first ray from the first tarsometatarsal joint through the naviculocuneiform joint. Typical indications include Lapidus-type first tarsometatarsal fusion for hallux valgus with first-ray hypermobility, and medial midfoot stabilization within flatfoot reconstruction. BoneCraft stocks this plate as a genuine original implant from the Zimmer Biomet foot and ankle portfolio, supplied through independent distribution.

  • Anatomically contoured for the medial aspect of the first ray and midfoot
  • Low-profile plate geometry to reduce soft-tissue irritation on the medial border
  • Titanium construction, compatible with standard locking and non-locking screws
  • Three catalog variants covering left, right and universal applications (72410000901 / 72410000902 / 72410000903)
  • Original manufacturer stock, full-size availability for distributor and hospital orders

Medial Column Fusion Plate — First-Ray and Midfoot Arthrodesis

The medial column carries the majority of body weight through the stance phase of gait. When the first tarsometatarsal joint or the naviculocuneiform joint becomes unstable or arthritic, fusion of the affected segment restores a stable, plantigrade first ray. A dedicated medial column plate gives the construct compression across the joint line and a fixed contour that holds the corrected alignment while the arthrodesis consolidates.

The best-known application is the Lapidus procedure — first tarsometatarsal arthrodesis for hallux valgus with hypermobility of the first ray. The same plate geometry serves medial midfoot fusions in progressive collapsing flatfoot deformity, where the naviculocuneiform segment is included in the correction. Implant selection, joint preparation and screw configuration remain the decision of the operating surgeon.

Product Details

The plate is fixed across the prepared joint with compression screws through the shaft and locking screws where angular stability is required. Its medial placement keeps the hardware away from the tension side of the fusion and follows the natural contour of the first ray, limiting the need for intraoperative bending.
