Mixing screw functions along one plate solves a practical problem at the distal fibula. The malleolar fragment often needs fixed-angle support, because it is small and its bone may be weak, while the shaft above the fracture is best compressed with standard screws to restore length and rotation. A composite hole layout provides both within the same implant, so the fixation plan is set hole by hole rather than by choosing between plate families.
Three sub-families share this layout. The composite plate is the base version; the composite locking plate in stainless steel adds threaded holes across the pattern; and the composite locking plate in titanium combines the composite holes with the lower weight and imaging behaviour of titanium alloy. The titanium version is offered in the widest hole-count run, and aiming-guide variants allow percutaneous placement of the shaft screws. Sub-family and size selection rests with the operating surgeon.
