Anterolateral Proximal Tibia Locking Plate (3.5 / 5.5 System)

The anterolateral proximal tibia locking plate is the workhorse lateral plate of the proximal tibia family, stocked in two screw systems. The small-fragment version takes standard locking and cortical screws and covers the common plateau injuries; the large-fragment version accepts heavier screws for patients whose bone size or loading calls for a stronger construct. Both are precontoured to the anterolateral aspect of the proximal tibia, made separately for the left and the right leg, and can be inserted through a limited approach with the shaft screws placed percutaneously. BoneCraft holds both system versions in stock, supplied as an independent distributor of genuine Zimmer Biomet products.

  • Precontoured for the anterolateral proximal tibia, left and right versions.
  • Two screw systems: small-fragment and large-fragment versions.
  • Hole counts six to sixteen in the small-fragment run, with matched lengths.
  • Suited to limited-open and percutaneous insertion techniques.
  • Genuine original implant, both systems stocked.

Anterolateral Proximal Tibia Locking Plate — Systems and Sizing

Plating the proximal tibia from the anterolateral side places the implant on the strongest corridor of the lateral column. The plate head wraps the lateral flare of the plateau and its proximal locking screws support the articular block from below, while the shaft follows the lateral cortex downwards. Because the construct is fixed-angle, it holds the reduction without relying on bone quality at the metaphysis.

Offering two screw systems in the same contour answers a practical stocking question. The small-fragment version handles the majority of plateau fractures and keeps the screw inventory light; the large-fragment version pairs the same plate shape with heavier screws where bone size or loading demands it. Both versions accept the insertion technique described in the corresponding surgical technique, including percutaneous shaft-screw placement. The operating surgeon selects the system along with the plate length.

Product Details

In application, the plate is advanced along the anterolateral cortex until the head seats over the plateau flare; K-wire holes hold it provisionally while position and reduction are verified under the image intensifier. The proximal locking screws are then placed into the head to form the fixed-angle support under the joint, and the shaft screws follow. When a percutaneous technique is used, the shaft screws are placed through small stab incisions with the help of the instrumentation described in the surgical technique. Reduction, system version and screw configuration are decided by the operating surgeon.

The plates reproduce the original system geometry exactly — head contour, screw angles and thread interfaces — so the published surgical technique applies directly with the standard instrument set. BoneCraft stocks both system versions for both legs across the size run, and wholesale orders can consolidate this line together with the titanium and the curvature-version proximal tibia plates of the same family in one shipment.
