Titanium brings two practical gains at the proximal tibia. Its lower elastic modulus places less stress concentration at the screw-bone interface than a stiffer implant, and its imaging behaviour keeps artefact low when the knee is scanned after fixation. Combined with a slim, precontoured profile, the plate sits comfortably under the lateral soft tissues even in slim patients.

The two sizes address anatomy rather than fracture type. The standard size fits the average plateau, while the large size gives the head a wider footprint for a broad lateral flare, so the raft screws spread under more of the articular surface. Both sizes share the same raft geometry and hole-count run, and the choice between them is made by the operating surgeon at templating.

In fixation, the plate head is seated over the lateral plateau flare so that the raft screws run parallel to the joint surface just below the subchondral bone; the shaft follows the lateral cortex downwards and accepts locking or standard cortical screws. K-wire holes in the head hold the plate provisionally while reduction and plate position are checked under the image intensifier. Reduction, raft-screw configuration and size selection are decided by the operating surgeon.
