A proximal tibia locking plate works as a fixed-angle scaffold under the tibial plateau. The screws in the plate head run parallel to the joint surface and form a subchondral raft that resists depression of the articular block; the shaft then transfers the load to intact cortical bone further down the leg. Because the screws thread into the plate, the construct does not depend on friction between plate and bone, which keeps the reduction stable in metaphyseal comminution and in bone of reduced quality.
This line is offered in two curvatures. The standard curvature fits the average proximal tibia, while the large curvature accommodates a wider plateau or a larger stature, so the plate head follows the lateral flare without bending in theatre. Versions carrying an aiming guide allow the locking screws to be placed percutaneously through the guide; versions without the guide are contoured identically and accept the same screws. Final version selection rests with the operating surgeon.
